Social News And Social Bookmark Monthly Statistics (February 2008)

Do you want to know what the most popular type of content on social news and social bookmark sites was this February?
We analysed around 500 front-page stories for Digg, Reddit, Propeller, StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us and Mixx to see what types of content were the most popular in February 2008 (500 stories for each site, not in total).
Once again, it should be noted that some of the sites update more regularly than others and that 500+ stories for each of these sites is a relatively small number of the stories that are promoted on a monthly basis. The results should still provide a useful indication as to what content is generally popular on each site.
If you’re planning on running a campaign on any of these sites, the stats here are a useful indication as to the type of content that each community is interested in.
We’ll be releasing more stats this week that look at the changes in popular topics over a 3 month period. So sign up for our RSS feed if you want to keep updated. You can also view the stats for December and January.
Take a look at the graphs - are these the results you would expect to see or is there anything here that surprised you?

Cracking write up, I have used stumbleupon loads, but never really analysed what worked and what didn’t. Very helpful post, thanks!
