Over the last few months we’ve been gathering data from the major social news and bookmark sites and looking at the type of stories that reach the popular pages on these sites. After much cursing and many finger cramps, we now have collected enough data to analyse monthly changes in popular topics. The results might not be what you expected.

Do you want to know what the most popular type of content on social news and social bookmark sites was this February?
We analysed around 500 front-page stories for Digg, Reddit, Propeller, StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us and Mixx to see what types of content were the most popular in February 2008 (500 stories for each site, not in total).

Pay-per-click (PPC) fraud figures continue to rise according to ClickForensics. PPC data collected from more than 4,000 online advertisers and agencies show that average click fraud rates have risen to 28.3 percent on content networks. In other words, roughly 1 in 4 clicks on content networks is not real. Overall, click fraud is estimated at 16 percent. So what does this mean to businesses and advertisers?
